UNP Attempting To Save Arjuna Mahendran, Says COPE Chairman

The UNP is attempting to save former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran despite his responsibility in the Central Bank Bond Scam, Committee on Public Enterprise Chairman Sunil Handunnetti said.

He said that the decision to take legal action against Arjun Aloysius, son-in-law of Mahendran, was also diverting the attention from Mahendran to someone else.

He added that the COPE has already prepared a report on the matter. The UNP wants to submit an alternative report to save Mahendran, he said.

Mahendran is known as a friend of Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and is a Singapore citizen.
