The main accused of the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in 2012 was given death sentence by Colombo High Court judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardhana today.

The individual, Ravindran Surendran, was 18 years old at the time.

The other accused were released from the case.

The incident occurred on June 30, 2012, and the body of the girl was discovered from a canal in Kirulapone on the following day.
