A bottle was thrown at the police by a group involved in a drunken brawl near the Kilinochchi hospital last evening, injuring a policeman.

The policeman was admitted to hospital.

A group which had organized the hartal in the town were involved in this incident. Some people attempted to block the A-9 road, when the police intervened.

Then the group moved towards the Iranamadu Junction and created disturbance there.
