Parliamentarians Agree On Microphones In Chamber

Several parliamentarians agreed on the fact that the color of the new microphones in the chamber was inappropriate.

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam raised the matter to the Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala who was in the Chair when he spoke. Kariyawasam said that the white microphones have made the Chamber ugly.

Sumathipala agreed and said that House Leader Lakshman Kiriella also made this point. They have disregarded the color combination used by renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa who designed the Parliament, Sumathipala added.

The floor of the Parliament is red and the seats are black. The tables are dark brown and the microphones used to be black. They were repaired due to a fault in the system.

Sumathipala said that the microphones will be changed at the first possible opportunity.

Meanwhile the fault in the audio system was also persistent today.
