Fisheries Minister Rajitha Senaratne says that although certain parties are conspiring to remove him from the government those attempts will not succeed.

Senaratne further says that even though he will not leave the government he will not hesitate to take necessary political decisions at the right moments. "I am not worried about what I will lose in such instances," Senaratne said addressing a book launch in Colombo yesterday.

He also stated that some people are being charged as "corrupt", simply because they are speaking out against corruption. It was clear that he was alluding to BBS General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera who referred to him as a "corrupt politician" at a recent press conference in Colombo.

Senaratne also stated that he was attacked for being ‘unpatriotic’ by certain Sinhalese racist organizations, and for being ‘patriotic’ by certain Tamil racist organizations. " This, to me, is confusing," the Minister stated.

"If there is something that I cannot agree, I will raise my voice even in the Presidential Palace," Senaratne said, adding that a politician cannot stand aloof when the whole society is degrading.
