Two Sri Lankan Police Officers Detained for Alleged Drug Trafficking Links


Sri Lanka Police have confirmed the detention of two police officials amidst allegations of maintaining ties with drug traffickers. The arrested individuals, identified as a Sub Inspector from Mawathagama Police and a Sergeant from Doretiyawa Police, were apprehended by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) following directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.

Sources indicate that the arrests stem from revelations made by a detained drug trafficking suspect associated with the Mawathagama Police. The two officers are currently under interrogation as part of ongoing efforts to root out corruption within the police force.
